Parent Pay

At John Smeaton Academy we are able to accept payments online for items such as dinner money, school trips, uniform etc. using a secure website called ParentPay.

ParentPay allows you to pay online using your credit/debit card and is our preferred method of making payments to the academy for your child to purchase items from our school canteen.

ParentPay is easy to use and will offer you the freedom to make online payments whenever and wherever you like, safe in the knowledge that the technology uses the highest internet security available and that funds reach the academy safely.

For ParentPay you will have a secure online account, which you will access by using your unique username and password. Once you activate your account, you will be prompted to create your own username and password which you must keep safe for future use.

If you have two or more children at the academy, you only need to activate one account as your ‘main account’ and then add your other children via the add a child tab on the home page.

To activate your account please login to www.parentpay.com, go to the account login area on the homepage and enter the username and password you have received previously.

Once you have activated your account, you can make online payments straight away and ParentPay holds an electronic record of your payments to view at a later date. ParentPay is our preferred method of payment as John Smeaton Academy is a cashless school.

Further information on how Parent Pay works can be found here: https://www.parentpay.com/services/cashless-payments/

CIVICA Cashless Cloud

At John Smeaton Academy we use a till system called CIVICA Cashless Cloud. Once parents have topped up their child’s Parent Pay account the balance is then filtered through to the till system.

Each student has their own profile on the system with their name, student ID photo, and cash balance. When students purchase items from the canteen the student will need to present their fingerprint or student ID card to the catering staff to be able to make the purchase. If students are unable to provide either of these then catering staff can check ID of the student using their name and ID photo which is stored on their till profile. The catering staff will then log the items purchased on the till system which will then debit the cost of the items from the students’ balance. The items which have been purchased will then show on the student’s statement on Parent Pay.

Please note that a daily spending limit of £10.00 per student is imposed to prevent overspends occurring.

Details about the CIVICA till system can be found here: https://www.civica.com/
